Families are precious. Family is treasure. Family members are special. We love them so much. Imam Husayn (a) loved hi family so much. He said once, ‘A house without Sakina is not worth living in.’ What kind of things did Bibi Sakina (a) do to make her father say this? What kind of child am I to my parents? I can do simple and wonderful things to make my parents please ( with the intention of pleasing Allah ). Listening to them, helping them out, thinking go them, praying for them, being obedient. Lets strive to have a house like the house (Ahlulbayt) by following the values that they upheld. Imam Husayn (a) made the ultimate sacrifice for the love of Allah and Islam. His Family! Bibi Zainab (a) stood by her brother in Karbala and played a very important role. What role do I play as a family member? What do I give to my family? Which values do I uphold?
Your memory ayah from the Quran for instilling this value is, Surat al Furqan, (25:74):
“…O our Lord, grant us in our wives and children, the joy of our eyes and make us guides to those who guard.”
Family Activity Kit:
- 5 x cocktail sticks
- Coloured foam
- Scissors
- 1 pre designed prop
- Frame
- Markers
- Printer
- Using the cocktail sticks and the materials, make a bunch of props for each member of the family. Each prop should be something that reminds you of a quality of Imam Husayn (a) in that family member. For example, mum is so loving- make a prop in the shape of glittery red heart for her. Think of other fun ideas for your family members, but link them all to Imam Husayn (a).
- Once your props are ready, get the family together and take a family photo.
- Print out your family picture (A4 in size) and frame it.
- Put up your frame in your home and remember to stand by these beautiful values.
