We’ve decided to have a balloon birthday party. Ef loves balloons.
Ok, Super Sa’ah scientists, we want to surprise EF for her birthday with our balloons. What do you think we should do?

How about we charge the balloons with my intelligence! Said Super Sparkly Spiraly actor 5. Look! Like this!
Everyone! Ch ch Chuchuchu!
actor 5 to come up front and show how you rub ballo on on hair and make it stand.
Lets all be super spiraly actor 5 intelligent!
Does it work only on your hair, Super Spiraly actor 5?

Hugs and kisses from all the scientists for actor 1
Wow! You guys are amazing! Thank you soooo much. How did you guess its my birthday.
Well, duhhh it was really hard to tell.
actor 1 has signs of it being her birthday all over her coat.
And omg, I love the balloons. My most favourite of all. How did you get your hair to stand like that?
Hmmm! EF! I think you need a lesson in Friction
actor 5 to come and talk to actor 1 and say
Friction rhyme here.
All scientist movement to the words of the rhyme
actor 5 and actor 1 to come up with some moves and all scientists do these moves, simple simple and effective. actor 1 is watching from the side and then one of you pull her up and she joins in the repeat of the friction rhyme. Something short.
Then
Make actor 1 sit in the middle of the stage
Zohra: Come on everyone ch ch chuchuchu
and you friction her hair and place the balloon on her head – special happy birthday balloon.
So how does it work anyway? How is your hair and your hair and your hair and your hair standing?
actor 1 points to each scientist here
Well, whats happening is that when we rub the balloon with our hair, the friction or rubbing together creates energy. The charge builds up and the hair is attracted to the balloon.
That’s what makes it stand like that.
Wow! I love my birthday hair do! It’s the coolest.
actor 1 to stand and show off her hair
I feel like positive poppy.
All scientist sing together in loud voice.
I’m positive poppy, sparkly and shiny! To understand is the key.
When singing, add movement to what you are saying
actor 5 and actor 1 to come up with a simple move to go with this line
Hey EF! I got you a present.
actor 2 says.
Me too!
All other scientists say one after another. Me too! Me too! Etc
All scientists say me too themselves.
till all of you have said and do this really cool clown move and place the water bottle on Fatima and actor 2 flat back. Then actor 4 and actor 6 to take your balloons and
Zohra talk to crowd and get them to : Ch ch chuchuchuchu
rub against your own hair and place pencil on top of bottle and make it spin. actor 1 watching and is so amazed.
actor 1 watch and then look at the crowd in amazement and then come to other side and watch and look in amazement.
Then all scientists do another clown moves and stand again.
So does that mean that the friction creates energy which makes the pencil spin towards where the charge is?
Yes, that’s absolutely right! (saah scientists to say together)
All this talk of friction reminds me of my most favourite friction story ever! May I share that with you all?
actor 5 to pretend to say
Yes, please! Shout all the scientists
Zohra to get audience to Chu chu chuchuchu and hands rubbing together
actor 5 and Zohra to recite Friction rhyme
Other Scientists to go back stage and get ready for bilal story roles.
In the land of Ethiopia, a mummy and a daddy lived. They loved each other so much. They were taken by some arabs to Arabia.
actor 6 to come on and usher actor 5 and actor 4 towards the crowd. Sit in the crowd for a bit.
In Arabia, they had a baby. Now actor 5 and actor 2 to stand up together holding a Baby. His name was Bilal
Bilal Bilal Bilal Bilal
Zohra Get audience to join in Bilal Bilal Bilal Bilal
actor 5, Give back the baby. And come and stand next to partition.
He grew and grew and grew and grew.
Bilal Bilal Bilal Bilal
Zohra Get audience to join in Bilal Bilal Bilal Bilal
actor 1 to come on stage as Bilal. Do farm work and labour type work actions.
actor 1 wear a white T shirt that has bilal on it. Just staple a paper which you have printed Bilal on it and a number 1 on the other side. Subliminal message of one god.
When Bilal was old enough to work, he had to go and work for a rich man called Umayyah.
actor 3 to come on as Ummayah and take Bilal – actor 1
actor 3 dressed in arab outfit, gatra and etc.
Bilal always thought that Umayyah was better than him. They could never be the same. Ummayah was the boss and Bilal was the worker.
Ummayah standing there looking so prim and proper and Bilal hoeing and working and cleaning sweat from forehead etc.
When Rasullulah began teaching the religion of Islam in Arabia, he said, there is no difference between people who are black or white, rich or poor. The better person is the one who obeys Allah.
actor 2 to come on as Holy Prophet and just simple hand gestures as I say the above paragraph.
The moment actor 2 comes on as Rasullulah, actor 2 put on the spot light and leave on till actor 2 walks off stage
At this time, actor 1 on one side of the stage hoeing and working for Ummayah. When Rasullulah message comes, bilal is so moved. And actor 3 prompting Bilal to work.
Bilal felt so special. He decided to become a muslim. He obeyed Allah and Rasullulah with all his heart.
narrator to recite.
Laa ilaha illalah
Muhamed ur Rasullulah.
When Umayyah found out about it, he asked Bilal?
“Do you worship the God of Muhammed?
actor 3 to use hand gestures and show that you asking actor 1 do you believe in one?
He said, Yes, not afraid at all. I worship One God!
actor 1 to say yourself loudly and with finger showing one and with conviction. Ahad! Ahad! Ahad! One God! One God! One God!
Ummayah was very cross.
actor 3 with angry face on stage
narrator : Can you show me your most angry face.
Lets add some angry sounds now.
Hrmhhhhhhhhh!
Umayyah was so cross, he began to give Bilal a big ouch for what he believed. actor 3 to shove Bilal.
But because Bilal came into contact with Rasullulah. The contact, the rubbing, the ch ch chuchuchu, the friction that takes place when you meet an amazing Guide like Rasullulah with messages from the Holy Quran makes you charged with strength and love for the truth, love for Islam.
This is exactly what happened to Bilal. Bilal’s friction with Rasullulah left him with Islam in his heart and nothing would come in his way. Bilal received the greatest gift of all, from his friend. Islam!
actor 1 and actor 2 on stage. Spot light on.
actor 3 disgusted face
Some while later, Rasullulah freed Bilal from Umayyah and Bilal’s biggest struggle was over. Bilal’s contact with Rasullulah, the rubbing, the ch ch chuchuchu, the friction left him on the beautiful sparkly straight path.
Rasullulah loved Bilal’s sweet sweet voice. He made him the first muadhin of Islam. When Bilal would call the adhan, all the muslims would gather for salah. Bilal remained close to Rasullulah all his life.
actor 2 to take actor 1 away from actor 3.
When I talk about sweet voice. actor 2 to show thumbs up sign.
actor 4 and actor 6 to quickly bring the mosque on stage.
Lets listen to Bilal recite the adhan as he calls all the muslims to the most treasured and beautiful conversation with our best friend, Allah.
actor 1 to stand by a minaret and recite the adhan
One by one, all of you come on stage as arabs and are getting ready to pray. Some doing wudhoo, Some keeping your arab head gear proper, topi, etc and come and sit ready to pray.
Isnt’ the adhan amazing.
Isn’t the friction we create when we speak to Allah, a charge like no other. The friction with Rasullulah left Bilal with a brand new job too that brings people till today to come and rub themselves, friction with Allah. Isnt that amazing!
As I say the above paragraph, you do one rakaat with actor 2 as Rasullulah leading. Then leave the stage area. actor 5 to get ready at the back to come as Sparkly spiraly actor 5.
actor 5 to come and recite friction rhyme and add friendship bits.
All other mualims to change back into scientist coats and hats and return to stage for finale of party.
That’s a really wonderful story, Sparkly Spiraly actor 5!
Thank you so much. Said EF! It’s the best present ever!
Scientists sit down facing the crowd with some party stuff and chat
Friends that you friction with and the rubbing together, the ch ch chuchu that leads to good ness and the love of Quran and Ahlul bayt is the best friction ever.
What I really loved is how Bilal stood by what he believed, his faith was so strong, and no matter what he had to go through, he stood true to his belief. This is a great quality to be and to look for in a friend.
actor 1 to pretend to say
Nabi Ebrahim’s trust and faith in Allah is like that too, isn’t it.
A friendship based on faith and trust is the strongest friendship ever.
In fact it reminds me of one the ayats we always talk about. Let’s bring our Quran’s and recite together. Its Surah 41 Fussilat Ayat 30
Innaladhina qalu rabbunallahu thumas thaqamu tatanazalu alayhimul malaika
As for those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then stay steadfast, the angels come down upon them
Surah fussilat 41 ayat 30
All scientists to stand in a row holding a Quran and recite together.
What a party! I love you my dear friends.
Thank you so much and thank you Allah!
You have gifted me such wonderful friends and thank you for FRICTION!
actor 1 to come centre stage and raise hands in dua and say
All scientists recite short friction rhyme stanza.
STATIONS
Science – Friction – actor 6
Children get to blow up their balloons and try and do the hair raising and the pencil experiment at the station. Children can also colour their hair if they like.
I really loved the science behind the spinning pencil on the water bottle with the balloon. Lets do it again. The rubbing on the hair symbolizes connecting to Allah. The balloon is like Rasullulah, a great friend and guide to Bilal. The pencil is Bilal and how he is attracted to his friend. And no matter what, the pencil will spin towards the balloon. Bilal was so sure of what he believed. He never spun away from guidance of his friend and guide, Rasullulah.
Art- actor 5
Who are you?
Mime out a few professions.
Act out some different people with different jobs like pilot who works for emirates, chef who works for restaurant, school child who goes to a certain school, athlete of sports, businessman who works for company. They are known by the work that they do. We are also known by what we believe and the values that we uphold.
Lets look at Bilal. What guided his actions to be who he is?
The friction with the right friend, Rasullulah lead him to the identity that has. What is your identity? Who are you?
The identity of Laailaha illalah and Muhammad ar Rasullulah is the way. Who you are and what actions speak of your identity.
Talk about Kalima and being steadfast to it through action. This is who we are.
Islam so diverse where it does not come down to your colour country tribe etc. The friends of RAsullulah, Salman and Bilal were all from different backgrounds but their identity was their beliefs. Its not manmade things, its Godly identity. When you are steadfast to this identity, nothing can sway you and if you feel swayed, friction again and again with the truth.
Movement and Perfume– actor 1
Step into a thali with pebbles. Step into a thali with sand. Step into a paddling pool with water.
Quickly show them the perfume and how the smell stays in the sticks. The smell of the vinegar is quite strong and not so sweet smelling. Lets choose the right thing to friction with, to allow into our heart.
Pebbles/ Smooth/ Ice/ Fluffy carpet/ Smooth carpet sirat.
Children get to try and walk on these different sirats and share their feelings. How does it feel to friction with these?
Next, they get to try and send the friction cars on these different sirats.
Observe and make conclusions.
Make the connection to how when we friction with smooth, its faster and a more pleasing ride. This is exactly what belief in Allah and His messenger is. It makes us reach faster and smoother and enjoy the ride. Rasullulah and Ahlul Bayt are the sirat. Lets friction with them not the rough ride.
PURPLE GROUP
The girls can do the balloon and hair and balloon and pencil experiment and discuss how buloogh and the love of Allah places you spinning towards HIM.
Ask the girls if they would like to temporary colour their hair. Use the hair colour chalk to colour hair for each other
Talk about how bilal was the son of Rabah. Rabah was the slave of Khalaf. His post was high. That of looking after the idols inside the kaaba. When Rabah died, Bilal took over this work. He found it so hard to understand that he must worship something that needs his help to look after it.
In the salman story, it was the same. How could he worship something that needed his help for survival. The fire. Our phones ipads etc need to depend on us for their survival.
Buloogh and the guidance we have gives us the right style to friction with so that we can smooth sail all the way to the aakhirah.
Look at the reverse effect. Use the rock with the barnacles and ask them to rub their fingers gently on the rock. Its really rough and rather painful. The rocky path is….. the smooth sailing islam path is the smoothest of all.
Use the friction cars to hypothesize what will happen on the different paths. Test using the iphone stop watch. Try and see if the hypothesis and the results matched. Connect to buloogh and Islam and the wonder of the deen path to friction on.
What is your identity?
Who are you?
Charades game with purple group.
You whisper into their ear who to act like and other children guess who it is.
Act out some different people with different jobs like pilot who works for emirates, chef who works for restaurant, school child who goes to a certain school, businessman who works for company. They are known by the work that they do. We are also known by what we believe and the values that we uphold.
Lets look at Bilal. What guided his actions to be who he is?
The friction with the right friend, Rasullulah lead him to the identity that has. What is your identity? Who are you?
In todays world, there is so much identity crisis. Why? What can help people overcome this crisis of now knowing who they are and what they stand for, what they are steadfast with. Istikama connection.
If you look at the professions above, what is it that makes you choose doing the right thing.
The athlete who does not cheat by taking drugs.
The business man who does not cheat in dealings
It’s the moral compass. Where does it come from?
Its not enough to say, I will do good and be kind but not follow the deen.
